CIMT wishes all our readers A Happy and More Successful Year in 2011.
The year 2011 promises another active period ahead of us. In fact, it is a significant year, marking the final stint of the five-year IMT-GT Roadmap 2007- 2011.
All IMT-GT stakeholders should be in full gear implementing our programmes for 2011 so that by the end of the year we shall smoothly transfer from the Roadmap 2007 – 2011 into the IMT-GT Implementation Blueprint 2012 – 2016.
We cannot really congratulate ourselves that The Roadmap 2007 – 2011 have been well executed thus far. Many programmes in the Roadmap could not be carried out for lack of proper planning, lack of project details, and more importantly lack of financing due to lack of coherent strategy in terms of tying up subregional with national programmes. All these issues and causes, however, have been identified during the Mid-Term Review conducted in 2009 and 2010, and we are now ready to start preparing our new five-year programme with more effective and doable strategy in a document what we call as IMT-GT Implementation Blueprint 2012 – 2016.
Preparations are now underway for the key IMT-GT stakeholders to meet in Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province in Thailand, in the 4th IMT-GT Post-Summit Planning Meeting on 20 and 21 January 2011, to follow up with the implementation strategy of the directives of the 5th IMT-GT Leaders Summit on 28 October 2010 in Hanoi, Vietnam. This meeting will scrutinise all directives of the IMT-GT Leaders and plan implementations of these directives for 2011 and the coming years. The preparation of the Implementation Blueprint 2012 – 2016, which is one of the Leaders’ directives, will be one important agenda of the meeting, among others.
The 4th IMT-GT Post-Summit Planning Meeting in Koh Samui this week is an important event. It must be successfully carried out to ensure successful implementations of IMT-GT programmes and activities this year and in the coming years.
